Sylvain died on July 17th 1996. He was a passenger of flight TWA 800. He was only 35 years old. The first version
of this site was put on line in December 1996, a few months after the
tragedy. The initial aim of this site is to present, in the most
possible interactive way, the whole of the exhibitions
(Paris, New York, Tokyo, ...) and the most important works that Sylvain
made, during his too short career described in his biography. I wish that this site helps to have
his work discovered and promoted, and that it becomes a meeting place
for his friends and admirers. I added, in the recent times, pictures and
elements (letters, quotes) that should help to better understand his
creation process. All the documents you could be helding will find a
place here. Do not hesitate to propose them. Sylvain was
fascinated by the technical equipments with what was my environment because
of my education (Electronic engineer) and the companies in which I work
(Information Systems and Telecommunications). When I was studying, I was
making the pictures of his works and portraits of himself he was going
to use later for his paintings. Later we added 16mm film and video. I
kept a huge quantity of documents that enable to partly understand the
evolution of his creative strength. These documents are the foundations
of this site. Christophe Delange,
Paris, September 2001
